What is my Potential

Two weeks ago, our daughter, Jessica, and her husband, Travis, came over to our house and sat us down and announced they were having a baby. Of course, we were excited. Actually, we were way beyond excited. She is due December 1st, 2014.

Some may wonder why blog is titled Reaching Our Potential. At one point in my life I would sometimes use that phrase to tell my sisters that they were more than what they were; to not settle for less than what they truly wanted, and to strive for what there potential was. I always thought that I knew what my potential was. But, as I got older, I realized that our potential changes as we enter different changes in our lives. I think we all should be either striving for something to better ourselves or reaching for our possible potential.

I strived to be a good mother in my 20s, achieve a college education in my 30s, and now in my 40s, I strive to work hard in my career and prepare for my retirement. But, I have also realized that I have the potential to be a better grandmother than I was a mother. I made many mistakes as a mother and I am sure I am not done doing so. Through most of my mistakes i have learned from and that is why I feel I can be a better grandmother than mother.

We can all have many potentials that we can try to achieve. Somebody might say that I am just making goals. I call it potentials because these are things that if i work at it makes me a better person.

I  hope and am excited to see if I can reach my potential as a grandmother.
